Chicago Bears NFL Draft Grades 2023: Darnell Wright Was First-Round Reach
The Chicago Bears traded out of the No. 1 slot with weeks to go until they were on the clock, helping them stockpile picks for the 2023 NFL Draft. In all, Chicago selected 10 players, including four in the first three rounds.
The 33rd Team Scouting Dept. graded every pick in this year’s draft, here's how the Bears fared:

10. Darnell Wright, OT, Tennessee
Darnell Wright (scouting report) is a good player, but No. 10 is high for him. They needed to improve their offensive line, and Wright will do that. He is not an elite athlete, but he has experience at left tackle and right tackle — and he could even kick inside. He is a power player who can maul in the run game, which should be a great fit for their quarterback run game. He opened a lot of eyes with how he dominated Will Anderson in their matchup last season.

53. Gervon Dexter, DT, Florida
Gervon Dexter (scouting report) is a big man who eats up blockers and plays stout at the line of scrimmage. The Chicago Bears are getting a run defender and who will not make much noise as a pass rusher. He needs to improve his motor and be more consistent finishing plays.

56. Tyrique Stevenson, CB, Miami
Tyrique Stevenson (scouting report) has rare size and length for a cornerback. He is a fluid mover who can bend and move laterally. He has some inconsistencies on film but is one of the most physical press-man corners in this draft. He can bully wide receivers down the field. He’s better in man coverage than he is in zone coverage.

64. Zacch Pickens, DT, South Carolina
Zacch Pickens (scouting report) is a good overall athlete and has the strength to hold up on the front for the Bears. He has good feet and balance but has some hip tightness. He runs well for his size and gives good overall effort. He should be a nice fit in the Bears’ rotation.

115. Roschon Johnson, RB, Texas
Roschon Johnson (scouting report) was overshadowed by Bijan Robinson (scouting report), but he is going to be an excellent pro. He is an unselfish player. He will function very well in tandem with Foreman and Herbert. He will do the dirty work and be a core special teamer.

133. Tyler Scott, WR, Cincinnati
Tyler Scott (scouting report) is an extremely explosive player that plays faster than his 40 time (4.44 at this year's combine). He can separate from defenders consistently but he needs to clean up his hands, he will have some concentration drops. His burst can't be taught.

148. Noah Sewell, LB, Oregon
The Bears add a hard hitter on defense as Noah Sewell (scouting report) is a powerful LB whose size and strength allows him to be a run stuffer.

165. Terell Smith, CB, Minnesota
The Bears are targeting long corners with straight line speed. Smith uses his length well to disrupt releases and has excellent eyes and quick-trigger reactions in off coverage.
Grade: A-
218. Travis Bell, DT, Kennesaw State
Travis Bell is a small school player that lacks size. He's only six feet tall and lacks length. He does have good strength and power. Bell had 30 tackles and 1.5 sacks in 2022.
Grade: C-
258. Kendall Williamson, CB, Stanford
Williamson had 213 total tackles and one interception for his career. He has good height and length. He is an explosive athlete that tested well this spring.
Grade: B-
