Cowboys Wanted Hilton, OBJ

After signing veteran wide receiver T.Y. Hilton on Monday, the Cowboys attempted to sign Odell Beckham Jr. the same day, NFL Media reported. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones called Beckham Jr. to try and seal the contract, but they ultimately couldn't come to an agreement.

OBJ's recovery from his ACL tear suffered in last year's Super Bowl is still in progress. Reports indicate he still needs four to six weeks before he can take the field for the first time, which has slowed his free-agent market. Still, the Cowboys seem committed to bringing in OBJ eventually.

"Odell's going to join us. ... There's a good chance he will, with the complete goal of getting ready for a playoff game or two, and then I'll look to the future," Jones told USA Today earlier this week.

Murray Could Return Prior to Next Season

Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray's recovery from a torn ACL he suffered on Monday night could take six to eight months, which would allow him to return for the start of the 2023 season, ESPN reported. Doctors believe all of the other ligaments in Murray's knee are intact, allowing him to have a quick recovery.

Chase Daniel, an analyst for The 33rd Team, believes Murray's injury leaves the Cardinals with some tough questions this offseason. However, his speedy recovery could help answer some of those.

Trade Deadline Could Get Moved

The NFL is considering moving back the trade deadline back one or two weeks, NFL Media reported. There is momentum building for the deadline to get moved after last week's winter meetings. There is expected to be increased discussion in the coming months as the regular season winds down.

Any change would require 24 of the league's 32 owners to approve the vote.

Falcons DC Injured

Falcons defensive coordinator Dean Pees was carted off the field before the team's game against the New Orleans Saints after a player accidentally ran into him during warmups, the Falcons announced.

Pees was taken to University Medical Center New Orleans and was released in time to fly home with the team. Frank Bush replaced Pees as the Falcons' defensive coordinator on Sunday.
