Report: Jets Agree to Trade With Ravens for Safety Chuck Clark

The New York Jets made a trade Thursday, but it wasn't for a franchise quarterback.

The Jets will acquire safety Chuck Clark from the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for a 2024 seventh-round pick, ESPN reported. The trade is agreed to but can only be processed once the new league year begins on March 15.

The move will allow Baltimore to free up roughly $3.6 million in cap space.

Many Jets fans await word talks with Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers will result in the veteran being traded to the Big Apple. The Jets and Rodgers met Monday and Tuesday in California, and recent reports indicate the Jets are "optimistic" a deal will be completed soon.

Clark has spent all six of his NFL seasons with Baltimore. In 2022, he had highs in tackles (101) and solo tackles (61). He recorded just one interception this past season but has five in total in his career. Clark only allowed one touchdown in coverage last season, according to Sports Info Solutions.

The former Ravens safety is joining a Jets defense that carried the team at times last season. New York's defense allowed the fourth-fewest yards per game and the third-fewest passing yards per game in 2022. The Jets were also one of four teams to hold opponents to less than 20 points per game.

Clark should pair nicely with the 2022 Defensive Rookie of the Year, Sauce Gardner.
