NFLPA President JC Tretter Announces Retirement
Free agent center and current NFLPA President J.C. Tretter has announced his retirement. Despite retiring from his work on the field, he is not leaving his post off the field with the NFLPA.
"Great teammate," said The 33rd Team's Joe Thomas. "He is super athletic and smart—one of the best technicians I ever played with."
Tretter was elected to the post of NFLPA President in March of 2020 taking over for Eric Winston. He beat out Sam Acho of the Philadelphia Eagles and Michael Thomas of the New York Giants for the position, taking over right as the NFL began dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic but under his leadership. He helped navigate the many hurdles that the virus would present, negotiating the testing regiments and safety precautions for players that ultimately led to no games being canceled because of the virus.

Tretter's playing career spanned from 2013 to 2021 playing for the Green Bay Packers and Cleveland Browns. He was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the 4th round of the 2013 NFL Draft after a college career at Cornell. He left the Packers in 2016 and signed with his hometown team Cleveland Browns. He was released from the Browns in March of this year just five days after being re-elected as the NFLPA President.
J.C. Tretter stated in his retirement announcement on Twitter that he wanted to "go out on my terms" and at 31 years old he has done that.
