NFL Week 7 News and Notes

J.C. Jackson injury Chargers vs. Seahawks

Panthers Could Get QBs Back

Carolina Panthers quarterbacks Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield could return next week for the team's game against the Atlanta Falcons, ESPN reported. Mayfield, who started the team's first five games, suffered an ankle injury forcing him to miss last week's game against the Rams and Sunday's game against the Buccaneers.

Darnold was removed from injured reserve on Wednesday after suffering an ankle injury in Carolina's final preseason game against the Buffalo Bills. Carolina has been relying on P.J. Walker at quarterback since Mayfield's injury.

Wilson Has Partially Torn Hamstring

Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson is dealing with a partially torn hamstring, NFL Media reported on Sunday morning. Wilson was ruled out of the team's Week 7 game against the New York Jets on Saturday in favor of backup quarterback Brett Rypien.

However, this injury puts Wilson's status for next week's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London in doubt. Wilson lobbied the Broncos training staff to play all week, but he wasn't deemed healthy enough in the end, according to the report.

Jones Expected to Return on MNF

New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones is expected to return to the starting lineup on Monday night against the Bears, NFL Media reported.

Jones had missed the last three games with an ankle injury he suffered against the Baltimore Ravens on Sept.26. Fourth-round rookie Bailey Zappe made two starts in Jones' stead and won both games.

Chiefs to Start Rookie RB

The Kansas City Chiefs are expected to start rookie running back Isiah Pacheco against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, NFL Media reported. This would be Pacheco's, a seventh-round pick, first career start, and he's taking over for Clyde Edwards-Helaire, who is a former first-round pick.

Edwards-Helaire has 256 rushing yards on 56 carries this season, but Pacheco isn't far behind. He's got 149 yards on just 31 carries this season, and he's averaging 4.8 yards per carry to Edward-Helaire's 4.3 yards per carry.
