Von Miller Has Torn Meniscus, Hopeful to Return
Buffalo Bills edge rusher Von Miller suffered a lateral meniscus injury in the Bills' Week 12 win over the Detroit Lions and could miss the next two weeks or more, Miller revealed on Tuesday. Miller hopes to return in time for the Bills' Week 14 matchup against the New York Jets, though time will tell how the injury heals.
“Just going to wait a little bit, wait a little bit, let the swelling go down for about seven to 10 days," said Miller, "and hopefully right before the Jets game, I will be back.”
The Bills are currently tied for first place in the AFC East at 8-3, and Miller has played a significant role in the team's success with eight sacks in 11 games.
Rodgers Plans to Play vs. Bears
Aaron Rodgers plans to play against the Bears this week, the Packers quarterback said on the Pat McAfee Show. Rodgers is dealing with a thumb injury he's had since the team's London game in October and a rib injury he suffered on Sunday night.
"There was an early shot in the game that rattled the ribcage, and it got hit again in the third quarter," Rodgers told McAfee. "I pride myself on not coming out of games but I couldn't move out there at all"
Rodgers said he received good news on the scans for his ribs, which was the only concern for his availability this week. Rodgers will remain the Packers' starter if he's healthy, coach Matt LaFleur said following Sunday's game.
Plane Incident Won't Change Cowboys' Pursuit of OBJ
The Cowboys will still heavily pursue Odell Beckham Jr. despite his incident on a Miami plane on Sunday, owner Jerry Jones told 105.3 The Fan on Tuesday morning. Beckham Jr. is reportedly starting his visits on Thursday with the New York Giants.
“His overall team compatibility, his judgment, his behavior is not an issue with him,” Jones told the local Dallas radio station. “It is with many. It isn’t with him.”
Beckham Jr. was removed from a flight going from Miami to Los Angeles after he reportedly was going in and out of consciousness and refused to put on his seatbelt. Beckham Jr.'s lawyer released a statement denying some of the airline's report and said Beckham Jr. was willing to use his seatbelt but made to leave anyway.
Chargers-Dolphins Week 14 Flexed Into Prime-Time
The Los Angeles Chargers Week 14 matchup with the Miami Dolphins has been flexed into prime time by the NFL. The game will replace the previously scheduled Kansas City Chiefs-Denver Broncos matchup that was to be played on Sunday night.
Chiefs Sign DT Brandon Williams
The Kansas City Chiefs are signing veteran defensive tackle Brandon Williams to their practice squad, according to ESPN. Williams is a nine-year NFL veteran, having spent his entire career up to this point with the Baltimore Ravens. He is a former third-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, and in 2018 he was named a Pro Bowler.
Packers Waive Johnathan Abram
The Green Bay Packers waived safety Johnathan Abram on Tuesday, according to NFL Media. This makes the second time in three weeks that Abram has been waived.
The Las Vegas Raiders also waived Abram earlier in the season. He spent the previous three seasons with the Raiders after being drafted by the team in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
Gardner-Johnson Out Indefinitely
Eagles safety CJ Gardner-Johnson is out "indefinitely" after he lacerated his kidney in the team's win against the Packers on Sunday night, NFL Media reported. There is no timetable for his return, but the injury will not require him to get surgery.
Gardner-Johnson's six interceptions lead the NFL this season.
Jacobs Won't Practice
Raiders running back Josh Jacobs is not expected to practice much this week due to a calf strain, and his status for Sunday is uncertain, NFL Media reported. Jacobs suffered the injury on Friday and almost missed his Week 12 game against Seattle, but he ended up recording more than 300 scrimmage yards in the game.
Bears' Jackson, Mooney to IR
The Bears placed safety Eddie Jackson and wide receiver Darnell Mooney on injured reserve on Tuesday, ESPN reported.
Jackson suffered a significant Lisfranc injury and Mooney suffered an ankle injury during the team's game against the Jets on Sunday. There is no timetable for Jackson's return, and Mooney is expected to miss the rest of the season.
Booth Out for Season
Vikings cornerback and 2022 second-round pick Andrew Booth will miss the remainder of the season after having knee surgery, NFL Media reported.
Booth is the second rookie in the Vikings' secondary to suffer a season-ending injury this season. Minnesota's first-round pick, safety Lewis Cine, is also out for the year.
