Prime Time in Colorado

NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders accepted the head coaching job at the University of Buffalo, the team announced. The move became official after Sanders completed a 12-0 season at Jackson State with a win in the team's conference championship game.

Sanders finished his Jackson State career with a 27-5 overall record, including back-to-back 11-win seasons. He'll take over a Colorado program coming off a 1-11 season with a 1-8 record against PAC-12 conference opponents. The Buffaloes have finished above .500 just once (2016) since 2006.

CFB Playoff Set

The 2022 College Football Playoff field is official.

No. 1 Georgia will play No. 4 Ohio State and No. 2 Michigan will play No. 3 TCU, excluding Alabama from the playoff field. The semifinal games will be played on Dec. 31 and the championship game will be played on Jan. 9, 2023.

Georgia and Michigan finished the season on Saturday by winning their respective conference championship games. TCU lost the Big 12 title to Kansas State in overtime, but the Horned Frogs' 11-1 overall record was good enough to keep them inside the top four.

Ohio State, who finished 11-1, gets in thanks to USC losing the PAC-12 Championship to Utah on Friday.

Eight players ranked inside The 33rd Team's top-20 prospects will participate in the CFB Playoffs, including Buckeyes quarterback CJ Stroud and Bulldogs defensive lineman Jalen Carter.

Jimmy G Staying Put?

Jimmy Garoppolo might remain in San Francisco past the 2022 season with a new short-term deal, NFL Media reported. Garoppolo has reasserted himself as the team's starting quarterback following season-ending ankle surgery to Trey Lance in September.

The 49ers and Garoppolo mutually decided to part ways this offseason, but offseason shoulder surgery limited his trade market. The sides eventually worked out a restructured contract, making Garoppolo a free agent following the 2022 season.

Garoppolo is 7-3 as the 49ers' starter this season and has the team on top of the NFC West heading into Week 13.

NFL Teams Pursuing Harbaugh

Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh is drawing interest from NFL teams again, NFL Media reported. Harbaugh interviewed for the Vikings' head coaching job last offseason but said he wouldn't return to the NFL after he didn't get the job.

However, NFL teams are still expected to pursue the coach who has led the Wolverines to two straight Big-10 titles. Michigan's win in the Big-10 title game against Purdue on Saturday sealed Michigan's second straight appearance in the College Football Playoff under Harbaugh.

Harbaugh coached the 49ers from 2011 through 2014 and accumulated a record of 44-19-1. He led the team to a Super Bowl appearance, which he lost to his brother – Ravens coach John Harbaugh – in 2013.

Mutual Interest Between Cardinal, Roman

Ravens offensive coordinator Greg Roman is interested in taking Stanford University's head coaching job, NFL Media reported. Roman was a member of Jim Harbaugh's staff there from 2009 to 2010 when he coached the tight ends and offensive tackles.

Stanford is looking to replace David Shaw, who stepped down in his 12th season after leading the team to just a 3-9 record in 2022. Ravens coach John Harbaugh confirmed Stanford and Roman had discussed the job this week.

"I think it's very preliminary right now," Harbaugh said in a press conference earlier this week. "We have really great coaches, they're going to have opportunities. We try to encourage that and support that any way we can."
