NFL Week 10 News & Notes

Wednesday, Nov. 9

Kyler Murray Misses Practice

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray (hamstring) was listed as a non-participant for Wednesday's practice. The Cardinals held a walkthrough ahead of their Sunday matchup with the Los Angeles Rams.

It remains to be seen whether or not Murray will be able to play on Sunday, but his absence is not a good sign for the Cardinals, who are 3-6 and in danger of falling completely out of the playoff race.

Matthew Stafford Enters Concussion Protocol

Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay told reporters on Wednesday that star quarterback Matthew Stafford entered the concussion protocol. His status for the team's Week 10 matchup with Arizona on Sunday is unknown.

The Rams are coming off a narrow defeat at the hands of Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  The loss dropped the defending Super Bowl champion Rams to 3-5 on the season, with their playoff hopes dwindling. If Stafford has to miss multiple weeks, he might return to a team without enough season left to break through and earn a playoff spot.

The Rams currently have veteran QB John Wolford, and former University of Virginia signal-caller Bryce Perkins available should Stafford miss the team's Week 10 game. Wolford appeared in three games for the Rams in 2021 and started one game for the team in 2020. Perkins has yet to play his first NFL snap.

Packers Claim Former Raider Jonathan Abram

The Green Bay Packers claimed former Las Vegas Raiders safety Jonathan Abram from waivers on Wednesday, according to ESPN.

Abram was a first-round pick by the Raiders in the 2019 NFL draft, but has fallen out of favor as the regime that drafted him (led by former coach Jon Gruden and general manager Mike Mayock) was replaced by the current brass. The Raiders attempted to trade Abram before the 2022 NFL trade deadline but were unable to find a partner. On Tuesday, the Raiders made the decision to waive Abram and move on.

McDermott: Allen Day-to-Day

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has a sprained right elbow (UCL injury) that will limit him this week, NFL Media reported on Wednesday. Allen isn’t guaranteed to play in this week’s game against the Vikings, but there’s optimism he can manage the pain and still start.

Bills coach Sean McDermott told reporters Allen is “day to day” and responded “we’ll see” when asked directly if Allen would play on Sunday.

Allen suffered the injury late in the Bills’ loss to the New York Jets last Sunday. He was hit by defensive end Bryce Huff on Buffalo’s third-to-last play of the game while winding up to make a throw. The hit bent Allen’s upper arm backward and forced the ball loose.

The quarterback was seen holding his elbow between plays as the Bills ran two more snaps — both passing plays, including one of almost 70 yards — before the game ended.

Keenan Allen Misses Practice, Day-to-Day

The Los Angeles Chargers will be without Keenan Allen in practice on Wednesday, as the star wide receiver continues to recover from a hamstring injury, per ESPN.

Allen has participated in only two of the Chargers' games thus far — last suiting up in Week 7. Chargers coach Brandon Staley told reporters he considers Allen day-to-day. In Week 10 the Chargers take on the San Francisco 49ers with a chance to improve their record to 6-3.

Falcons Rule Out Stud CB for TNF

The Atlanta Falcons released their initial injury report for Thursday night's game against the Carolina Panthers, and cornerback A.J. Terrell is out. Safety Erik Harris and tight end Feleipe Franks are also out.

Terrell has been out of the lineup with a hamstring injury since the team's Oct. 23 game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Taylor Spotted at Practice

Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor was spotted practicing with his teammates on Wednesday, ESPN reported. Taylor missed last week's game against the New England Patriots with an ankle injury and has frequently been on the injury report this season.

This is likely a good sign Taylor will suit up for Jeff Saturday's first game as interim coach against the Las Vegas Raiders this week.

Titans Activate First-Round Receiver

The Tennessee Titans activated wide receiver Treylon Burks from injured reserve on Wednesday, and he will practice this week, NFL Media reported. Burks has been out since Oct. 8 with a turf toe injury. The 2022 first-round pick from Arkansas had 10 catches for 129 yards before his injury.

Players of the Week Announced

The NFL announced its AFC and NFC players of the week on Wednesday. In the AFC, Bengals RB Joe Mixon won Offensive Player of the Week, Baltimore Ravens pass rusher Justin Houston won Defensive Player of the Week and Los Angeles Chargers kicker Cameron Dicker won Special Teams Player of the Week.

In the NFC, Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields won Offensive Player of the Week, Detroit Lions safety Kerby Joseph won Defensive Player of the Week and Tampa Bay Buccaneers punter Jake Camarda won Special Teams Player of the Week.
