Wheeler's NFL Week 10 Fantasy Football Rankings

Derrick Henry Week 10 Fantasy Football Rankings

Who's ready for the playoff run? This is the point in the fantasy football season where the contenders and pretenders separate. We are going to start to see the results of our grinding during the past few months. We've done the proper research and made the optimal moves, but there's always that bounce of the ball that can bite us any given Sunday.

In a typical head-to-head league, a few teams are out of it and aren't concerned about their line-ups. Maybe we will get lucky and face those teams down the stretch, but let's not depend on it. There are vultures out there looking to scoop-up players dropped during bye-weeks; let's beat them to the punch and make trade offers to bolster teams playing against your closest competition. If we can't win every game, we can still hedge our odds by forcing the competition to lose or make bad decisions.

The Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, New England Patriots and New York Jets have their bye in Week 10. When I look into weekly matchups, I only use the past five weeks of data. Anything that happened more than a month ago will cloud our judgment.

Week 10 Rankings

When examining these rankings, consider I am really only looking at positional ranks, not flex or overall rankings. When it comes to who you start in the flex, a lot will depend on your specific league rules and roster construction. If players are ranked within three spots of each other, the difference between them is negligible. They are expected to score the same amount of points; in those cases, go to our Discord.

Quarterback

The QBs with the best matchups in Week 10 include; Rams QB Matthew Stafford, Bills QB Josh Allen – who may be injured – Andy Dalton (or Jameis Winston), Sam Ehlinger (assuming he still starts) and PJ Walker, who is expected to start for Carolina on Thursday night. With that motley crew, we will just be looking for the hot QBs with high Vegas game totals.

Running Back

Most analysts look at fantasy points allowed when judging matchups, but for the RB position, I look at yards per carry (YPC) allowed. YPC is generally a miss-used metric that tells us less about running back efficiency but does give us a good indication of defensive efficiency.

Running Backs with the best Week 10 matchups are Christian McCaffrey, Saquon Barkley, Travis Etienne, Dameon Pierce and the Steelers RBs. Most people will assume a bounce-back week for Najee Harris, but I'm looking at a possible break-out week for Jaylen Warren. Harris' foot injury appears to be lingering, and Warren was the pre-season darling this summer.

Rank RB Team Opp
1 Christian McCaffrey SF vs LAC

I don't like the matchups for the Bills or Packers running backs in Week 10.

Wide Receiver

I examine a few different statistics when trying to find good or bad wide receiver matchups, but yards per game and fantasy points allowed are the primary gages.

I am drooling over Saints rookie WR Chris Olave's matchup against the Steelers. I would love Panthers WR DJ Moore if he had a quality QB to throw to him. Bills WR Stefon Diggs could go bonkers if Josh Allen plays but should be fine with Case Keenum against Minnesota, he may just need to take a few more slot snaps.

Rank WR Team Opp
1 Stefon Diggs BUF vs MIN

It may be difficult to fade Arizona's receivers, but the Rams have been tough on opponents in the passing game overall.

Tight End

Start your tight ends against the Arizona Cardinals, Seattle Seahawks and New York Giants. I feel like this is the same every year, but it could be recency bias. Tyler Higbee, Cade Otton and pick a random Houston TE as your streamers this week.

Rest of Season Rankings

Way back before I started ranking players and writing about fantasy, I would search for analysts' "Rest of Season" rankings. At the time, there were few people doing that, so when I started writing, it became a large part of my process. Rest of Season rankings help me with waiver wire or free-agent pick-ups before Sunday game-time.
