Top 250 Underdog Best Ball Fantasy Football Rankings

Underdog Best Ball Rankings

Our top 250 Underdog best ball rankings have been meticulously compiled by Josh Larky and Ryan Reynolds, with help from Best Ball Mania II winner Liam Murphy.

For each player, you can see our rank compared to Underdog ADP, along with a 1-5 rating for how we are viewing this player at their current ADP — a 1 indicates we are fully fading a player at his ADP, while a 5 indicates this player is a borderline auto-pick at his ADP. You'll also notice frequent player write-ups throughout these rankings for additional context.

  • You want roughly equal exposure to our top-4 ranked players

>> READ: Aaron Rodgers: "I'm Playing for Jets in 2023"

  • The addition of Jimmy Garoppolo is a lateral move for the Raiders from a pure football sense. We view it as a bit of a negative from a fantasy sense. We now have Davante Adams ranked at the end of this four-WR cluster
  • Trade rumors have led to an Austin Ekeler ADP slide
  • Kenneth Walker III would be a Round 1 best ball pick in other years. While we want drafters to go WR-heavy early on with our rankings, he is at minimal risk of losing goal line work come the NFL Draft
  • Positional scarcity has us moving DK Metcalf and Chris Olave up ahead of the talented RB tier behind them
  • Patrick Mahomes should only be targeted when Travis Kelce is already on your team

26 Tony Pollard RB 35.7 3.5
27 Travis Etienne RB 30.1 3.5
28 Derrick Henry RB 25.9 3
29 Breece Hall RB 25.3 3
30 Josh Jacobs RB 29.4 3
31 Rhamondre Stevenson RB 35.2 3
32 Nick Chubb RB 28.7 2.5

47 Jahmyr Gibbs RB 60 4.5
48 Jerry Jeudy WR 45 3
49 Najee Harris RB 43.5 2
50 Justin Herbert QB 51.7 3
  • The departure of Ezekiel Elliott opens the door for a primetime role for Tony Pollard, at least for now
  • We are still bullish on Travis Etienne, but we want to scale back some to get more exposure to other similarly-tiered players
  • Age vs. other players in this tier, along with landing spot uncertainty, led to us moving Derrick Henry back down
  • James Robinson signing with the Patriots was good news for Rhamondre Stevenson, as he's better in all facets of the game than Robinson
  • We've talked about it for weeks, and now we officially have T.J. Hockenson ahead of Mark Andrews. However, elevate Andrews when stacking with Lamar Jackson
  • Given his age, we are going to scale back on DeAndre Hopkins some until we know for sure where he'll play this season
  • Target D.J. Moore when you have Justin Fields on your team. Darnell Mooney had a 25% target share and just 6.8 fantasy points per game, so we need a massive shift in pass rate and efficiency to develop a high-end fantasy pass-catcher from this offense
  • Boost Justin Herbert when stacking with Los Angeles Chargers players. Otherwise, he's a touch overpriced

51 Trevor Lawrence QB 57.9 3
52 Jaxon Smith-Njigba WR 54.6 3
53 Chris Godwin WR 54.2 3
54 George Kittle TE 52.4 2.5
55 Tyler Lockett WR 59.6 3
56 Keenan Allen WR 53.3 2.5
57 Michael Pittman WR 47.5 2
58 Terry McLaurin WR 51.8 2.5
59 Drake London WR 47.8 2
60 Mike Evans WR 65.4 2.5
61 Marquise Brown WR 64.3 3
62 Kyle Pitts TE 63.7 2.5
63 D'Andre Swift RB 57.6 3.5
64 Dalvin Cook RB 58.2 2.5
65 Aaron Jones RB 62.3 2.5
66 Brandon Aiyuk WR 66.5 3
67 Treylon Burks WR 73.2 4
68 J.K. Dobbins RB 70.3 3
69 Quentin Johnston WR 82.5 3.5
70 Rashod Bateman WR 83.4 4
71 Kadarius Toney WR 79.4 3.5
72 Gabe Davis WR 75.7 3
73 Diontae Johnson WR 73.8 2.5
74 Darren Waller TE 91.4 4
75 Dallas Goedert TE 66.3 2
  • Jaxon Smith-Njigba (scouting report) had a faster three-cone drill time than Tyreek Hill, and his otherworldly short-area quickness makes us confident he'll produce early and often as a rookie
  • In a vacuum, George Kittle is a bad pick, as he's often injured, part of a crowded receiver room, and doesn't have a quarterback yet. However, for best ball tournaments, Kittle is one of the precious few TEs that can put up 80 yards and two TDs regardless of game script, opponent, or QB play - and that could be in Weeks 15, 16, and/or 17
  • We're still below consensus on Michael Pittman Jr., but the signing of Gardner Minshew increases our interest in him
  • We like Drake London as a player, but Desmond Ridder and Taylor Heinicke are in the running for the league's worst QB room
  • A trade to a contender would be the best-case scenario for Mike Evans in best ball

  • If Kyler Murray returns to action, Hollywood Brown has difference-making spike week potential every game
  • Kyle Pitts still has fascinating upside, but a QB room of Ridder and Heinicke is discouraging
  • The Detroit Lions' backfield scored the most fantasy points per game last season, and both D'Andre Swift and David Montgomery have very strong fantasy potential. Swift should be the primary pass-catcher and mix in some goal line work
  • Trade rumors have Dalvin Cook sliding slightly down our list
  • Regardless of QB play, Treylon Burks looks like a 20%+ target share guy who is dangerous after the catch
  • If the Buffalo Bills trade for a high-end veteran receiver, which would make sense for them, Gabe Davis could see significant role reduction. However, he's currently the WR2 in one of the league's most voluminous passing offenses
  • Dallas Goedert is behind both A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith in the pecking order, and also behind Jalen Hurts' and Rashaad Penny's rush attempts at the goal line

76 Dameon Pierce RB 66 2
77 Tyler Allgeier RB 83.6 3
78 Jahan Dotson WR 78.7 3
79 Jordan Addison WR 82 3
80 Deshaun Watson QB 82 3.5
81 Courtland Sutton WR 87.3 3
82 Javonte Williams RB 72.5 1.5
83 Dak Prescott QB 85.8 2
84 Tua Tagovailoa QB 96.5 4
85 Evan Engram TE 85.7 3
86 Isiah Pacheco RB 73.2 2
87 James Cook RB 86.9 3
88 George Pickens WR 68.9 1
89 Zay Flowers WR 95.9 3
90 James Conner RB 96.8 3
91 Daniel Jones QB 102.6 4
92 David Montgomery RB 108.8 3.5
93 Alvin Kamara RB 95.2 3
94 Kirk Cousins QB 101.2 3
95 David Njoku TE 101.9 3
96 Zach Charbonnet RB 98.1 3
97 Khalil Herbert RB 93.5 3
98 Miles Sanders RB 93.4 2.5
99 Rachaad White RB 91.3 2.5
100 Cam Akers RB 79.6 2
  • Tyler Allgeier is the arbitrage play on Dameon Pierce. Both are Day 3 picks from last season who flashed as both runners and pass-catchers. At least we have confidence in the Atlanta Falcons' offense being close to average
  • Deshaun Watson is the end of a QB tier, as he's the last potentially elite passer who also offers 20-30 yards per game on the ground
  • Coverage surrounding his injury gets more concerning by the week, and The 33rd Team's Dr. Jess Flynn thinks there's a non-zero chance Javonte Williams doesn't play all season and/or is never close to the same player again. This is a similar injury to what J.K. Dobbins was recovering from last year
  • Hill and Waddle both go in the top-20 picks, and there's a disconnect between that and Tua's ADP. When taking Tua, either bet on full health or draft Mike White in the 19th or 20th round, too
  • Zay Flowers (scouting report) is still live for Round 1 draft capital
  • David Montgomery is the last RB available with top-5 rushing potential at the position that we can confidently expect to start for the full season
  • Zach Charbonnet (scouting report) is live for Round 2 draft capital and should be in your RB rotation in this range of drafts. He's the most likely among this group to get 15 touches per game in 2023, with some of it coming through the passing game
  • D'Onta Foreman's addition doesn't kill Khalil Herbert's expectations, but it tempers them some
  • The Carolina Panthers have a solid offensive line and Miles Sanders will be their primary ball carrier. It could have been a better landing spot, but definitely could have been worse for best ball purposes

101 Brandin Cooks WR 100.4 2.5
102 Michael Thomas WR 108.3 3.5

120 K.J. Osborn WR 116 2
121 Darnell Mooney WR 105.5 1.5
122 Donovan Peoples-Jones WR 110 2
123 Kyler Murray QB 129.2 3
124 Kenneth Gainwell RB 123.6 2.5
125 AJ Dillon RB 109.8 1.5
  • Michael Thomas is a home run swing type of option with considerable risk, yet WR1 type upside
  • Garoppolo's Las Vegas Raiders aren't an ideal landing spot for Jakobi Meyers
  • Rodgers is only a year removed from winning back-to-back MVPs
  • New England is an interesting landing spot for JuJu Smith-Schuster from a pure volume standpoint
  • Penny is well positioned to take on the primary ball carrier - Miles Sanders role - from last season
  • Sneaky interesting landing spot for Jamaal Williams, as he'll be the primary back while Alvin Kamara is out, while still having a role when Kamara returns
  • For Jalin Hyatt (scouting report), think Will Fuller or Henry Ruggs for likely fantasy usage. He likely gets drafted in Round 1, and should put up a few high-end spike weeks as a rookie
  • Trey Lance is a low-floor, home run swing QB option that could be a real difference-maker if he hits. Note: Liam Murphy is buying Lance's upside at current ADP
  • Trade rumors have put a pause on any enthusiasm we might have for Elijah Moore
  • Zay Jones is a tough evaluation for best ball. He's behind Kirk, Ridley, and Evan Engram for targets, but should any of them go down, he'd be set to reprise his role from last season. A high-end handcuff WR with TD upside.
  • Moore instantly becomes the Bears' WR1, and Mooney falls significantly in our rankings

148 Ryan Tannehill QB 213.2 4
149 Odell Beckham WR 142 2.5
150 Chase Claypool WR 165.9 3.5
  • Antonio Gibson will get some carries and most of the receiving work. Should Brian Robinson Jr. go down, he's an RB1-type. He likely still pays off at ADP even if Robinson stays fully healthy
  • Elijah Mitchell is a premium handcuff behind Christian McCaffrey
  • Chigoziem Okonkwo has a similar athletic profile to Kittle and finds himself on a Titans depth chart devoid of talent after Treylon Burks. The target upside is big for this athletic second-year TE
  • We were both bullish on Skyy Moore when he was going closer to pick 170. Now, he's perfectly fine where he's going
  • Now that Jeff Wilson and Raheem Mostert are back in Miami, we expect a relative timeshare with Wilson seeing an edge in volume over time
  • Denver is an interesting landing spot for Samaje Perine given Javonte Williams' injury uncertainty
  • After re-signing with Minnesota, Alexander Mattison is once again a premium handcuff option
  • Anthony Richardson's (scouting report) ADP is getting high, but he still has tremendous upside
  • Alec Pierce quietly had 600 receiving yards as a rookie and Parris Campbell is a New York Giant. Minshew previously supported DJ Chark in Jacksonville, and Pierce has a similar skill set
  • Marquez Valdes-Scantling is a well-paid pass-catcher that saw significant playing time in Mahomes' offense last season. His ADP is currently mispriced
  • We aren't necessarily taking Ryan Tannehill this early, but we have him in this relative QB tier, which makes him an extreme value at his current ADP
  • Odell Beckham Jr. hasn't played since the Rams' Super Bowl win, and he turns 31 in November. We need to see his landing spot before being aggressive with how we rank him

175 Terrace Marshall WR 181.3 3.5
  • Tim Patrick is one of our current favorite late-value WRs. Trade rumors for Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton could potentially catapult Patrick into a default WR1 role with Russell Wilson
  • We're moving Allen Lazard up with the expectation that he'll play with Rodgers again in New York
  • Cole Kmet has mediocre base talent and is now crowded out in what should still be a run-heavy offense
  • Garoppolo has some spike week potential as a QB in a capable offense that happens to have a bottom-tier defense
  • We aren't generally targeting Mac Jones, but his current ADP is too low compared to others at the position
  • We expect even fewer opportunities at QB with the Saints bringing in Derek Carr. That said, Taysom Hill is a unique player in fantasy given his TE designation
  • Tyquan Thornton's ADP is slowly catching up to where it should be
  • Now that he's been officially brought back by New Orleans, Juwan Johnson is among our favorite cheap TEs
  • Terrace Marshall Jr. quietly had 490 yards last season and finds himself on a Panthers team devoid of other pass-catchers

  • We're going to put a pause on drafting Elliott until we know where his next destination is
  • We view Roschon Johnson (scouting report) as an intriguing prospect, but his ADP continues to rise
  • Noah Fant is one of our favorite late tight ends
  • Kayshon Boutte (scouting report) has the vertical leap of an accountant, which does little to soothe his character and work ethic concerns
  • I'm targeting Will Levis (scouting report) late with certain builds given his rushing upside and current low cost

  • Evan Hull has adequate size, good speed, and 417 carries and 88 receptions over his final two years at Northwestern. He will be a priority waiver add at some point this season and should provide some spike weeks
  • Mike White is a savvy pick when Tua is on your team, as a solid handcuff QB in these 20-round drafts given Tua's injury history and Miami's league-best WR core
