Week 9 DFS Main Slate Tournament Games

Below we will take a look at some of the double stacks, single stacks, and mini stacks I will be looking to take advantage of this weekend. If you have any questions, ask them on our 33rd Team Discord.

Double Stacks

Stack: QB Tua Tagovailoa, RB Jeff Wilson Jr, and WR Tyreek Hill 

Runback: WR Darnell Mooney

The Miami Dolphins are an offense you should be placing stock into each week, and this is another great matchup for them. Tagovailoa averages over eight yards per attempt against man or zone coverage, and the Bears traded away their best pass rusher in Robert Quinn. Tagovailoa, when he isn’t pressured, averages 9.2 yards per attempt, which leads the NFL this year. Hill averages over 100 yards receiving a game, and with the price spike of Jaylen Waddle, I love Hill in this matchup. Hill has only scored two touchdowns this season, and eventually, the usage will lead him into the end zone.

The Bears have also been a struggling run defense giving up nine rushing touchdowns and over 4.9 yards per carry. I expect Jeff Wilson to get enough usage to pay off the $4,900 price on DraftKings. Wilson already knows the offense with Mike McDaniel, and the Dolphins traded a 5th-round pick for him. There’s a plan to make this a split in usage with Mostert, and I will buy low in a week when I want to find spots to save salary. 

The Dolphins traded for Bradley Chubb, which will surely help the pass rush, but Fields is a mobile quarterback, and when he sees man coverage, it has been Mooney. The Dolphins also play a lot of man coverage, and against man coverage, Mooney has an aDOT of 14.2, YPRR of 2.4, and a 33% target share. 

Stack: QB Aaron Rodgers, WR Romeo Doubs, and TE Robert Tonyan

Runback: WR Amon-Ra St.Brown

If Rodgers isn’t able to have a productive game against this Lions’ secondary, he will likely not have one for the rest of the year. The Lions have tried to play every coverage but lack the talent and communication to play man or zone effectively. They also have struggled to rush the passer, posting lower than a 20% pressure rate in every game since Week 4. Allen Lazard is a big factor in whether I am playing Doubs, but until that situation is clear, I will be playing the rookie wide receiver who has been able to have played down the field. Doubs has been the second most productive WR in zone coverage and has three touchdowns on 19 targets against man coverage. The Lions’ have mixed up their coverages plenty, but no matter what coverage they play, they have been bad against in-line tight ends. They have given up the most points to that position, and over 50% of Tonyan’s production has been from the in-line spot. In lineups where I don’t get to Rodgers, Aaron Jones and Tonyan are players to mini-stack with St. Brown.

No TJ Hockenson leaves St.Brown with a massive target share for the Detroit Lions. St.Brown has had six or more receptions in the last ten games where he’s played 70% of the snaps. His floor is 14 points in PPR, and if he finds the endzone, he will have well over 20 points. In stacking this game, I will not be getting away from St.Brown for the RB room that has been a committee. 

Single Stacks

Stack: QB Justin Fields and WR Darnell Mooney

Runback: WR Tyreek Hill

The Chicago Bears have run over 70 plays on offense for three straight games, made a move to get another playmaker, and Fields has been much better in recent weeks. Fields has had seven or more carries in every game this year and has over 60 yards rushing in three straight games. The Dolphins have been a good run defense, but with running quarterbacks, it presents different challenges, and we did see them slip up against Lamar Jackson. Fields has not thrown a ton but has averaged over seven yards per attempt in four of the last five games. Mooney has a massive target share against man coverage and doesn’t need to do much to pay off at his price.

Hill has over double the yards of DK Metcalf and almost double the yards of Brandon Aiyuk. Metcalf and Aiyuk are in the top 24 wide receivers in fantasy points. There’s no overthinking this one; you paid down for Fields and Mooney to pay up for Hill.

Mini-Stacks

Minnesota at Washington

WR Justin Jefferson and RB Antonio Gibson

The Commanders have been awful against slot wide receivers this season, and 61% of Jefferson’s targets have come from the slot. Jefferson averages 16 yards per reception, 3.22 yards per route run, and a 30% target share from the slot this season.

Antonio Gibson has returned to a bigger role in recent weeks, and without J.D. McKissic, he should have the passing game role. Gibson has been more productive than Robinson, and in a negative game script, he should see an expanded role. 

Seattle at Arizona

RB Kenneth Walker and TE Zach Ertz

Walker had a disappointing week against the Giants but is in a bounce-back spot against the Cardinals. In their first matchup, Walker averaged 4.6 yards per carry and was three yards away from the 100-yard rushing bonus. The Cardinals’ defense is playing with two safeties back, preventing the big play, and as a result, we saw Dalvin Cook run for over 100 yards and average 5.5 yards per carry last week. 

Ertz is the most expensive tight end this weekend, which will lower his popularity. Ertz had seven receptions for 70 yards without DeAndre Hopkins in their first matchup. Hopkins will command a big target share; however, Seattle’s has been beaten by tight ends, and Ertz will get enough work in the red zone.

Las Vegas at Jacksonville

WR Davante Adams and RB Travis Etienne

Adams is one of the least popular players this weekend and is fully capable of being the best wide receiver on the slate. We saw Michael Pittman have 13 receptions for 134 yards in his one matchup against the Jaguars, and AJ Brown have six receptions for 95 yards in a rainy game against the Jaguars. Adams isn’t a must-play but is a premium player being unpopular and in a bounce-back spot.

The Saints showed how to utilize a runningback against this Raiders team, and Etienne, post-James Robinson, has been a workhorse. Etienne averages 23 touches for 140.5 yards per game, and they have the advantage on the interior. Etienne is popular, and that is why I would pair him with Adams if you get to him.

One-Offs

RB Austin Ekeler

Ekeler has flipped the script in recent weeks as a rusher, and that has been due to the blocking scheme going to more of a gap style for the Chargers. In the first three weeks, Ekeler had 13% of his carries come from a gap scheme, and since Week 4, 39% of his carries have come from a gap scheme. He can go for the double bonus without Keenan Allen and Mike Williams. 

RB Cordarrelle Patterson

If Patterson plays, I will be overweight on the field because he doesn’t need a ton of volume to pay off against the Chargers. The Chargers' run defense is one of the worst in football, and the Falcons have one of the best run-blocking schemes. I am staying away from the current timeshare but will have plenty of interest in Patterson.
