Week 6 Discipline Index: Chiefs Must Overcome Their Lack of Discipline

Week 6 Discipline Index: Chiefs Must Overcome Their Lack of Discipline

For the fourth-straight week, the Los Angeles Rams find themselves on the top of the 33rd Team’s Discipline Index rankings. This comes after a huge win on Thursday Night football against the previously ranked number two team in our rankings, the Seattle Seahawks.

Here is how the top-10 of the Discipline Index looks for this week:Week 6 Discipline Index: Chiefs Must Overcome Their Lack of Discipline

As a reminder, the 33rd Team’s Discipline Index combines the number of penalties, penalty yardage and turnovers on a per-game basis in order to show which teams are able to play the most mistake-free football in any given week.

Although it is still too early in the season to hit the panic button, the Kansas City Chiefs are certainly having a tough time replicating last year’s success. The Chiefs find themselves sitting at 2-3 after a brutal loss to the Buffalo Bills in Week 5. This marks the second time that the Chiefs are under .500 in the 2021 NFL Season. Part of this had to do with how undisciplined the Chiefs were. Although the Chiefs only committed seven penalties (that counted) for 55 yards, Patrick Mahomes and company still managed to turn the ball over on four separate occasions, bringing the Chiefs per game total for turnovers up to 2.2. This is tied for the highest amount of turnovers per game in the league with the Jacksonville Jaguars. With the Chiefs turning the ball at a higher rate than in the past few years, their defense has been on the field more and has not been able to keep teams from putting up an ample amount of points. In Week 6, the Chiefs look to rebound against the Washington Football who has been dealing with its fair share of troubles this season.

Here is how the rest of the Discipline Index unfolds for this week:
