Ill-Advised Trick Play Helped Lead to Vikings' Loss, Elimination vs. Giants
Analysis 1/18/23
Trick plays in the NFL are exciting, and the well-timed use of them can lead teams to win. That includes in the postseason, with the Steelers executing one in Super Bowl XL to beat the Seahawks, and the Eagles running the Philly Special in a Super Bowl LII win over the Patriots. There is a time and place to try and run those type of plays, however. The Minnesota Vikings picked the wrong moment to try and run their own version of the Philly Special in their Wild Card game against the New York Giants, and it helped lead to the team's postseason elimination.
