Cowboys Major Contender to Sign Odell Beckham Jr.

Odell Beckham Jr.

The Dallas Cowboys are firmly in the Odell Beckham Jr. sweepstakes, NFL Media reported on Sunday. The Cowboys reportedly pursued trades for Texans WR Brandin Cooks and Broncos wide receivers Jerry Jeudy. However, the possibility of signing Beckham Jr. was one reason Dallas never made a deal for a receiver before the Nov. 1 deadline.

Beckham Jr. is still recovering from an ACL tear he suffered during last year's Super Bowl with the Rams. Despite that, The 33rd Team analyst Joe Banner believes Beckham Jr. can push one team to this year's Super Bowl.

"Picture some of the teams we already know are going to be in the playoffs," Banner said. "Add a top seven-to-10 wide receiver, and a guy who has played in big games, who has withstood the pressure, who will make the other players on your offense better. He could easily be the guy who decides who wins the first round, the championship game and the Super Bowl."

The Cowboys are 6-2 this season and clearly in playoff contention, so Banner's vision for Beckham's impact could come true for Dallas. Beckham Jr. is expected to be cleared from his injury by the end of this week, Jay Glazier reported.

The 33rd Team analyst Rod Woodson knows Beckham Jr. needs some time before he can be a true WR1 again. Woodson also notes this is Beckham Jr's second ACL tear since the 2020 season.

"I would always say be very careful for OBJ going out there and making sure you really trust the knee," Woodson said. "You make sure you're strengthening the knee and the hamstring. If he does that, and he just plays on his pure talent, he's going to get open. He'll make a play for whatever team he goes to."

Beckham Jr. is looking for a multi-year contract, and there are still other suitors besides Dallas. The Rams, Giants, Chiefs and Packers have all reportedly expressed interest in the veteran receiver.
