Chiefs' Mahomes Not Limited by Injury, Can Do ‘Just About Everything’

Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid is not worried about Patrick Mahomes' being limited due to his ankle injury in Super Bowl LVII.

"[Mahomes] has been doing really well with his ankle," Reid said Wednesday. "We had a fast practice a couple of days ago, and he moved well. He can really do just about everything — at least everything in the game plan that we've asked him to do."

Before the Chiefs' practice on Wednesday, Mahomes said he has definitely improved from where he was the last two weeks, but the big test he says will come when he takes the field on Sunday.

"You won't know exactly how it is until you get to game day," Mahomes said. "I mean, I definitely move around better than I was moving last week or two weeks ago. So, it's just trying to continue to get the treatment and the rehab and get it as close to 100 percent and then rely on some adrenaline to let me do a little bit extra when I'm on the field."

When Mahomes and the Chiefs take the field against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, it will mark approximately three weeks since Mahomes suffered a high-ankle sprain in their Divisional Round win against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Kansas City.

The injury briefly forced Mahomes to leave the game, but he returned to finish off the Jaguars. Mahomes was seen limping when he returned against Jacksonville and in the Chiefs' following game against the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship.

Despite that, Mahomes played every snap against the Bengals and threw for 326 yards and two touchdowns. Still, some experts feel doubts about Mahomes' health are valid, and the Eagles' defense needs to take advantage of it on Sunday.
