Fantasy Football: Streaming Defenses and Kickers – Week 11

Streaming Defenses and Kickers – Week 11

Coming off some big hits and some big whiffs in Week 10, I’m looking for more consistency for Week 11. You’re going to want to maximize your output at both positions as we get close to the playoffs with every game being incredibly important. Below I will break down the best streaming matchups for Week 11 at both defense and kicker and the reasons why I feel they are great options.

Defense:

Carolina Panthers (vs. WSH)

The Panthers’ defense has put up 34 fantasy points in their last 3 games and now gets a matchup against a Washington offense that has allowed 41 points to defense over their last 4 games. This is a perfect storm for a truly dominant defensive performance from Carolina and you should absolutely have them up near the top of your defensive rankings for the week. They are owned in just under 49% of leagues, so you may not be able to add them, but if you can, you should absolutely do so.

Miami Dolphins (@ NYJ)

The Dolphins’ defense that we all expected to see coming into the season has finally arrived, with 35 points in the last two weeks. This is obviously an unsustainable pace, but a defense that is trending upwards with a matchup against a Jets team that doesn’t know their starting QB for the week yet is a great one. Either way, takeaways, and sacks are a very reasonable expectation for this Dolphins defense against an offense that has been vulnerable to both.

San Francisco 49ers (@ JAX)

The 49ers defense is yet another one trending in the right direction, as they responded to an incredibly disappointing performance against the Colt McCoy-led Cardinals by dominating the Rams with 17 fantasy points. Going into a matchup against a somewhat improved Jaguars team, but still vulnerable offense which has allowed 35 fantasy points to defenses in the last three weeks, the 49ers defense is definitely one to consider starting.

Kickers:

Chase McLaughlin (vs. DET)

McLaughlin is coming off a very poor week against New England and hasn’t been great this season, but playing the Lions, he has the very best possible matchup, so you should probably give him a look. Detroit allows more fantasy points to kickers than any other team by over a full point per game, so take advantage of such an incredibly rich matchup.

Randy Bullock (vs. HOU)

A very different profile for a kicker to target for this week is Bullock, who has a decent matchup but is just an overall great kicker to have on your roster. He has put up double figures in six out of his nine games this season and ranks fifth in fantasy points per game. He should be rostered at a much higher rate than his current 32.5%, but this gives you the opportunity to snag him and make him your starting kicker, probably for more than just this week.

Zane Gonzalez (vs. WSH)

Gonzalez has 41 points over the last three games, so he has been on an incredible tear, and you should try to add him while he’s hot. Washington’s defense has been one of the more vulnerable defenses to fantasy kickers, so it’s a solid matchup, and Carolina’s struggles in and around the red zone mean that Gonzalez always gets field goal opportunities, which is what you’re hoping for.
