Insiders Network: Early Predictions For Coach of The Year

The 33rd Team’s Insiders Network is a group of former NFL coaches and front-office executives who are here to provide insight and perspective into all things football. Each week during the season, we reach out to members of our Insiders Network to get their thoughts on a topical question. Here is this week’s question:

Who is your favorite to win NFL coach of the year and why?

Nick Polk:

I preface this with there is a lot of football still to be played and historically some of the best coaching takes place the last 5 weeks of the NFL season leading into the playoffs — At this juncture after Week 13 of the regular season, my vote for coach of the year would be Kliff Kingsbury for the work he and his staff have done in Arizona. Coach Belichick also deserves high consideration for the work he and his staff have done with Mac Jones.

Wade Phillips:

Bill Belichick. It is amazing what he has done to be top seed in the AFC.

Second would be the passing game coordinator of the Rams — Wes Phillips.

Mike Tannenbaum:

I’ll go with Bill Belichick. New England has exceeded expectations with a rookie QB.

Tom Lewand:

I’ll take Bill Belichick narrowly over Kliff Kingsbury since he is succeeding with a rookie QB. New England had a significant offseason roster overhaul, and typically have bold strategic game plans.
