Daily Fantasy: Week 14 Strategy Analyzer

Welcome to the Daily Fantasy Strategy Analyzer article for Week 14 of the NFL season. A lot of talented quarterbacks are returning to the main slate, which made a lot of stacks look appealing at first glance. However, once you dive deeper, you can poke some holes in some of these matchups/game environments. However, we were able to land on a couple of tournament plays that we like this weekend.

Tournament Plays

Jarvis Landry

It isn't the most appealing play by any means, but there is some merit to Jarvis Landry in tournaments this week. Seemingly fully healthy, Landry has averaged 16.65 DraftKings points over the past two games and put up his first 100+ yard performance of the season. With the bye, Landry gets an extra week to rest and heal up his injuries. The 111-yard performance in Week 12 game against the Ravens on Sunday Night Football. Who do the Browns play in Week 14 you may ask? Oh, the Baltimore Ravens.

Landry torched this secondary two weeks ago, and the Ravens have since lost top corner Marlon Humphrey for the year with a pec injury. John Harbaugh said in his press conference after their loss to Pittsburgh that they were running out of healthy corners. Surely Baltimore will have cornerbacks for this week's game, but they won't be up to Humphrey's quality. Landry looks like an awesome option at low ownership this weekend.

Travis Kelce

Travis Kelce isn't having an amazing season, but he's still put up some solid performances. He has 20+ DraftKings points in four games this year and is averaging 16.6 per game on the year.  Kelce usually sees 8-12 targets per game and is one of Kansas City's premier options all over the field. With Kansas City's offense potentially rounding a corner, Kelce may start to put up some better fantasy scores. Kelce also put up 22.9 DraftKings points in their first matchup with the Raiders this season.

Speaking of the Raiders, they've gotten gashed by tight ends this year, and Kelce has destroyed them in the past. The Raiders have already given up three games of over 30 FanDuel points to opposing tight ends, and this week could certainly be number four. With Patrick Mahomes under center, Kelce has played seven games against the Raiders. In those seven games, he has averaged 10.29 targets for 7.57 catches, 111.57 yards, and 0.71 touchdowns per game. Play Travis Kelce this weekend.

DK Metcalf

This is from yesterday's article on DK Metcalf, but he's one of our favorite tournament options on the week, so it made sense to include in this article as well.

With three performances under 7.1 DraftKings points in his last four games, and averaging 6.5 fantasy points per game over that stretch, you're probably wondering why we like Metcalf this weekend. When it comes to fantasy sports, and sports gambling in general, a good strategy is to "buy-low and sell-high." Metcalf definitely falls in the buy-low category, and his ownership should be fairly low. Seattle made it clear that they wanted to get Metcalf the ball last week, and he actually came very close to having a big day. He got a screen pass on the first play of the game, caught a deep ball out of bounds, got tackled on the 2-yard line, and had 2 end zone targets.

The matchup is middling, as Houston ranks 15th in fantasy points allowed to opposing wide receivers. However, Metcalf is an extremely talented player and can win most matchups. With how involved he is, at his talent, we may not see him priced this low ever again. Metcalf was averaging 19.26 DraftKings points per game over the first five games of the season while Russell Wilson was healthy, and perhaps Wilson is returning to form. Metcalf looks like a great tournament option this weekend.
