Eddie George is a former NFL running back who played eight seasons with the Houston Oilers/Tennessee Titans franchise (1996-2003), and one season with the Dallas Cowboys (2004).
In 1995, Geroge won the Heisman Trophy after rushing for a school-record 1,927 yards and 24 touchdowns. George was also Big Ten MVP during that season. He later was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2011.
George was drafted 14th overall in 1996 by the Houston Oilers. He was voted NFL Rookie of the Year as he rushed for 1,368 yards and eight TDs. He made the Pro Bowl in four consecutive seasons, was an All-Pro in 2000, and led the Titans to an appearance in Super Bowl XXXIV. George played one season in Dallas, totaling 432 rushing yards and four touchdowns before ending his career.
George is only the second running back in NFL history to rush for 10,000 yards while never missing a start, alongside Jim Brown. George rushed for 1,000 yards in all but one of his seasons in Houston/Tennessee. He finished his career with 10,441 rushing yards and 68 rushing touchdowns
After his football career, George earned an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and appeared in a Broadway musical. George currently serves as the head coach at Tennessee State.
Born in Philadelphia, he attended Abington High School before transferring to Fork Union Military Academy.
