Week 9: NFL's Top-10 Running Backs Right Now

The 33rd Team’s weekly top-10 RB rankings are a snapshot of where the league’s best running backs are right now, taking into account the player’s recent production, health, and an evaluation by our scouting department, led by former NFL team executive T.J. McCreight and assisted by scouts Justin Casey, Kevin Cohn and Evan Pritt.

Other Week 9 Rankings: QB | WR | Offense | Defense

1. Nick Chubb, Cleveland Browns

Carries: 149 | Yards: 841  | TD: 10  | Explosive Plays: 9  | Previous Rank: 2

Comment: Chubb has been the NFL's most consistent RB from Week 1, thanks to the Browns' rush first attack.

2. Derrick Henry, Tennessee Titans

Carries: 166 | Yards: 755  | TD: 7  | Explosive Plays: 5  | Previous Rank: 4

Comment: The Titans will ride Henry as far as he can take them. He has more than 100 yards in his last four games, culminating with 219 yards and two touchdowns this week.

3. Saquon Barkley, New York Giants

Carries: 163 | Yards: 779  | TD: 5  | Explosive Plays: 6  | Previous Rank: 3

Comment: When Barkley doesn’t make big plays, the Giants' offense doesn’t make much progress or score many points.

4. Christian McCaffrey, San Francisco 49ers

Carries: 111 | Yards: 525  | TD: 3  | Explosive Plays: 3  | Previous Rank: 5

Comment: He became the first player since 2005 to run, catch and throw a TD in the same game. The 49ers are getting their money's worth after trading for McCaffrey.

5. Josh Jacobs, Las Vegas Raiders

Carries: 121 | Yards: 676  | TD: 6  | Explosive Plays: 3  | Previous Rank: 1

Comment: His streak of three straight 100-yard rushing games came to a screeching halt in the Raiders' shutout loss to the Saints.

6. Alvin Kamara, New Orleans Saints

Carries: 95 | Yards: 413  | TD: 1  | Explosive Plays: 2  | Previous Rank: 7

Comment: Kamara is doing it all for the Saints' offense. He ran for one touchdown against the Raiders and caught two more.

7. Miles Sanders, Philadelphia Eagles

Carries: 114 | Yards: 563  | TD: 5  | Explosive Plays: 4  | Previous Rank: 6

Comment: Sanders has been consistent, but he gets jumped by Kamara’s big game.

8. Travis Etienne, Jacksonville Jaguars

Carries: 92 | Yards: 571  | TD: 2  | Explosive Plays: 6  | Previous Rank: N/A

Comment: Etienne has had more than 100 scrimmage yards in each of the last four games, and he is churning out chunk plays every week.

9. Tony Pollard, Dallas Cowboys

Carries: 81 | Yards: 506  | TD: 5  | Explosive Plays: 5  | Previous Rank: N/A

Comment: The Dallas offense is just more explosive with Pollard on the field. Will they make that change when Zeke is fully healthy?

10. Austin Ekeler, Los Angeles Chargers

Carries: 84 | Yards: 380  | TD: 5  | Explosive Plays: 3  | Previous Rank: 10

Comment: Ekeler and the Chargers had their bye this week. Next, they've got the Atlanta Falcons.
